ORLANDO WITHOUT A PARK TICKET

Lovely days
beyond the parks.

Relaxed towns, shopping, nature, day trips and quieter ways to enjoy Central Florida.

Our favourite non-park days

Walk around Celebration, play Disney miniature golf, browse the shops, visit Disney Springs, enjoy the pool or order food and do absolutely nothing. A rest day does not need to become another military operation. Sometimes the best plan is to get fed, get comfortable and be happy.

A slow morning in Celebration

We love walking past the beautiful homes and lakes, grabbing Starbucks and sitting near the fountain. The neighbourhood can feel like a television set, with manicured streets and a famously named Wisteria Lane. Children enjoy the interactive fountains, while benches and walking trails make the town easy for a relaxed visit.

On Sundays we enjoy the local market after Celebration Community Church. It is a pleasant place to see local stalls and try different food. Check current market times before travelling.

Winter Garden, Winter Park and Downtown

Winter Garden and Winter Park both offer attractive streets, independent businesses and a more local pace. Lake Eola is a pleasant Downtown Orlando stop. Nightlife venues change frequently, so verify ages, admission and event nights directly before travelling.

Smaller attractions

ICON Park works well for an evening or mixed-age group. Gatorland offers a very Florida day at a lower price than the largest parks. WonderWorks and Ripley’s are useful indoor options, while the Crayola Experience suits younger children. These are recommendations by fit rather than personal favourites, so compare current attractions and prices before booking.

Free and inexpensive ideas

  • Disney Springs and Disney’s BoardWalk
  • Celebration and its walking trails
  • Lake Eola
  • Resort-hopping where access and parking rules permit
  • Outlet browsing with a strict no-spend challenge
  • A picnic and pool afternoon
  • Mini golf, bowling or the cinema

Nature and day trips

Kayaking is relaxing and a wonderful way to see Florida wildlife, including manatees and alligators from a safe distance. We have also visited Madeira Beach, St Pete Beach, Disney’s Vero Beach area, Tampa, Mount Dora and Miami. Kennedy Space Center makes a memorable full day, while St Augustine and Clearwater are popular options to research for a longer trip.

Who will enjoy what?

Young children: Crayola Experience, splash areas, mini golf and a gentle pool day. Teenagers: shopping, ICON Park, kayaking and activities at CityWalk. Couples: Winter Park, Celebration, Mount Dora or a resort day pass. Adults: CityWalk nightlife, restaurants and live music. Older visitors: scenic towns, boat trips and short flexible outings. Quiet-day seekers: the villa pool, a natural spring or a long lunch.

One perfect non-park day

Sleep in, have breakfast delivered and enjoy tea or coffee outside. Spend late morning by the pool, then go to Disney Springs after the hottest part of the day. Browse slowly, have dinner and finish with the cinema. Nobody needs an alarm clock or a rope-drop strategy.
