Is it really cheaper?
Sometimes, but you need to know what you are buying. Some products are manufactured specifically for outlet stores and may differ from mainline products. We use Google Lens or image search to compare the style and price, and we treat inflated “original” prices with caution. Save receipts because they often include another discount for a return visit.
Mall at Millenia
Mall at Millenia is our preferred traditional mall. It is polished, enjoyable to walk around and has a good selection of designer brands. Macy’s is always worth a browse.
Target versus Walmart
We prefer Target, especially the stores near Margaritaville and Storey Lake. It is our all-rounder for groceries, clothes, beauty, medicine and Ulta Beauty products. Download the Target app or create an account to see current offers. Walmart can still win for clearance and technology: one of us found a Waterpik product reduced from roughly $140 to $40.
UK card acceptance can vary by issuer, terminal and store. Carry a second card rather than relying on one Mastercard, and always choose to pay in US dollars when offered currency conversion.
Treasure-hunt shops
Ross Dress for Less, Marshalls, TJ Maxx and Burlington are fun when you have time to search. Inspect items carefully and compare prices. Hobby Lobby is so large it can become an afternoon outing on its own.
Disney and Universal merchandise
Character Warehouse outlets sell official Disney park clearance merchandise. Target and Walmart are useful for licensed characters, soft toys and themed clothing, but they may not be the same products sold inside the parks.
What we bring home
Our list often includes peanut-butter M&M’s, chewing gum, breath strips, Tide pens, body lotion, beauty products and American toiletries. Medicines and skincare ingredients can be regulated differently in the UK, so check UK rules and personal allowances before buying. Never assume an American over-the-counter product is automatically legal or suitable to bring home.
Practical tips
- Go shortly before opening for lighter crowds and better size choice.
- Try clothes on because US sizing varies widely by brand.
- Keep every receipt and read the store’s actual return policy.
- Leave roughly 7–10kg of luggage capacity if shopping is a priority.
- Remember that shelf prices usually exclude sales tax.
- Check airline weight limits before buying a second suitcase.
Half-day and full-day plans
For half a day, choose Vineland Premium Outlets and finish at Target. For a serious full day, start at Vineland, eat at the food court, continue to International Premium Outlets and end at Target. Set a budget before leaving because Orlando shopping has a remarkable ability to make money feel imaginary.
